The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part trailer two breakdown

Everything is bleak in the new trailer for The LEGO Movie: The Second Part – but surely the band of characters will have some fun along the way

Another trailer has landed for The LEGO Movie: The Second Part along with a slew of new LEGO set images that reveal the products that will be released to support the film’s launch. Given that the sets are now known, there is no need to look out for potential products in the trailer – so Brick Fanatics is ready to pore over it for any other details, Easter eggs or plot hints that it provides…

While Emmet retains his optimistic outlook on everything, Wyldstyle continues to be the edgier character, dramatically brooding as she overlooks the desert.

The previous trailer showed the bunker in which the characters hide, but this time it is revealed to be a Batcave. It makes complete sense that Batman would have his cave ready for everyone to hide out in.

Although previously referred to as Sweet Mayhem, this trailer refers to the mini-doll character as General Mayhem.

When Emmet departs in his house-turned-spacecraft, he runs into Rex Dangervest. The action hero, also voiced by Chris Pratt, rescues the hapless construction worker. He parodies Pratt’s action hero personal, “galaxy defending” like Star-Lord, “archaeologist” as he is speculated to be in line for the Indiana Jones role, “raptor trainer” as in Jurassic World and “cowboy” as he was part of the Magnificent Seven remake.

Queen Watevra Wa’Nabi is a bizarre character who Wyldstyle has a bad feeling about. Will she rule over the Systar system?

In the rapid fire shots that close the trailer, the Justice League is shown to be making another appearance.

Batman is fighting a DUPLO alien invader – is Bricksburg not yet destroyed at the very beginning of the film? Will it begin with the DUPLO war, before everything descends into the apocalyptic world the previous trailer focused on?

Wyldstyle is taking on General Mayhem.

It looks like there will be a little bit of crossover with the Unikitty! television series, as Prince Puppycorn can be spotted in this shot featuring the princess’s world.

Emmet seems to be reuniting with Wyldstyle in the Systar system – will she decide she prefers it there, and will she intend to stay?

…maybe not. This scene seems to show the badass action hero escaping a location in the Systar system, encountering another brick built character who wishes to thwart her getaway.

This trailer is not a particularly revelatory one, with the film’s plot still under wraps. The previous footage revealed that Emmet’s friends would be kidnapped… but what then? Will much time be spent travelling through space, or will he quickly arrive at the Systar system? Will he bumble around the galaxy as his friends attempt to get home? How do these new characters factor in?

Thankfully it is less than three months until the film will be released and the answers will be revealed.

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part will be released on February 8, 2019.
