The second LEGO Ideas ’90s challenge is now underway
The second, smaller LEGO Ideas ’90s challenge has officially kicked off, eventually resulting in a set in collaboration with Target.
Now that the 1,000 to 5,000-piece ’90s challenge has stopped accepting submissions, the second smaller contest is now underway, accepting entries of up to 1,000 elements for a chance to become an official LEGO Ideas set.
All submissions must be based on intellectual property from the 1990s and be made up of between 200 and 1,000 elements. That’s more restrictive than the first challenge and it will hopefully result in some creative entries before the submission intake phase ends on February 7.

This second challenge also differs from the first in that it is being held in collaboration with Target, which the winning model will most likely be exclusive to in the US as LEGO Ideas has done before. The winner will receive the grand prize of having their submission transformed into an official set and one runner-up in the fan vote will receive 21351 The Nightmare Before Christmas, 21345 Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera and 21350 Jaws.
The timeline for this challenge following the end of the entry intake includes a fan vote for five models selected by a panel of judges on March 10 and the winner will be announced on June 2 – the same day as the other challenge.
