The upcoming LEGO Indiana Jones sets offer plenty of all-new minifigures

There are plenty of all-new minifigures waiting to be discovered in the three LEGO Indiana Jones sets first revealed yesterday.

Thanks to a Dutch retailer yesterday, we finally got our first look at three long-rumoured LEGO Indiana Jones sets due to arrive this year, the first from the theme since 2009. The models range in size, piece count and price, and are based on classic scenes from Raiders of the Lost Ark and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

Although the images released so far aren’t particularly great quality, what is clear at this stage is that each set will include an impressive selection of 11 new minifigures, with each model featuring at least one version of Dr Henry Jones Jr himself. Some of the minifigures also appear to have alternate face prints, but again, the low resolution of the images makes it hard to tell at the moment.

The smallest of the LEGO Indiana Jones builds is 77012 Fighter Plane Chase, a 387-piece set that comes with Professor Henry Jones Sr (as played by Sir Sean Connery), a German fighter pilot and Indiana Jones. This version of the archaeologist adventurer features his trademark fedora hat and bullwhip, plus he has a shirt, tie and jacket torso print, mirroring the character’s appearance in his escape from a Nazi-filled castle in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. At least one blurry image also seems to suggest that Indy’s hat is now in fact a new two-colour piece featuring moulded hair.

77013 Escape From the Lost Tomb offers up an alternate version of Indiana Jones from Raiders of the Lost Ark, complete with hat, open neck shirt and jacket torso print, bullwhip and satchel, plus he has dark tan hands to represent his leather gloves. The 600-piece model also comes with minifigures of Sallah, Marion Ravenwood in a tattered white dress and a bandage-wrapped mummy.

Rounding out the upcoming LEGO Indiana Jones sets is the most impressive build of the three, 77015 Temple of the Golden Idol. The model clocks in at 1,545 pieces and features a detailed recreation of the opening moments of Raiders of the Lost Ark. As well as multiple traps, interactive play features and nods to the classic movie sequence, the set also comes with four unique minifigures. Indy is slightly different again, with skin-coloured hands, although he still retains his hat, bullwhip and satchel. Rounding out the build are minifigures of Satipo, Belloq and a Hovitos Warrior.

There’s been no official word from the LEGO Group yet regarding the LEGO Indiana Jones sets, but the models are listed online as arriving on June 1, 2023. As soon as we have more information, we’ll let you know the full details.
