There can 'definitely be more' original LEGO IP in Fortnite

Fortnite has added content from LEGO DREAMZzz, NINJAGO and Friends as part of the partnership with the LEGO Group but there can be more.

Whether you've spotted a familiar LEGO DREAMZzz set in your LEGO Fortnite world, seen some LEGO Friends models in one of the new LEGO Islands or played the LEGO Pirates or NINJAGO LEGO Island, rest assured that the LEGO Group and Fortnite are open to integrating more LEGO themes into the massive game.

During a recent roundtable with LEGO Fan Media including Brick Fanatics, the future of original LEGO IP – including the likes of LEGO NINJAGO, LEGO DREAMZzz and Monkie Kid – in Fortnite was questioned. In response, Head of Play & Creator Growth at LEGO GAME Kari Vinther Nielsen seemed optimistic for the future of the LEGO Group and Epic Games' partnership.

"This is the first time we've taken one of our homegrown IPs and put it into UEFN and created a game," explained Nielsen. "For us, it's a great opportunity to figure out how we do that with the available toolset. It's about translating the DNA and the story and I think we manage that quite well, I think it's a super fun game.

"It brings out the right taste of what LEGO NINJAGO is all about, and what it has been about for the past 13 years. There can definitely be more of those and I would bet you that's the journey we are on in terms of bringing our IP into this ecosystem and platform. I think there are also opportunities based on what we learn to offer that as part of the greater experience, but we have to see."

Other than a LEGO DREAMZzz set in LEGO Fortnite, original LEGO content has only been included in LEGO Islands within Fortnite at the time of writing but the final line of Nielsen's quote suggests that the teams are open to integrating the LEGO Group's original themes into Fornite further in the future.

For now, there seems to be enthusiasm and optimism for more LEGO Islands based on original LEGO IP in the future but in the meantime, a NINJAGO battle arena LEGO Island is available to play in Fortnite right now.
