Toy of the Year 2021 shortlist includes seven LEGO products

The Toy Association has announced the Toy of the Year 2021 finalists, with LEGO Super Mario, Technic, Star Wars and Friends making the list.

There are more awards potentially on their way to the LEGO Group, with the company having multiple products nominated in the Toy of the Year 2021 finalist lists. The list is touted as an indicator of what will be hot this Christmas, with the winners due to be announced on Friday, February 12, 2021.

While the list has been drawn up by those within the toy industry – including toy and play experts, retailers, academics and journalists – consumers can now visit the Toy Awards website and vote for their favourites in each category. Voting closes on January 5, 2021.

LEGO Technic 42115 Lamborghini Sián FKP 37 is shortlisted in the Vehicle of the Year category. LEGO Star Wars 75292 The Mandalorian Bounty Hunter Transport and LEGO Friends 41381 Rescue Mission Boat are both in the Construction Toy of the Year list.

“Throughout history, the toy community has demonstrated a remarkable ability to inspire generations of play, in both good times and bad. During the pandemic, we have witnessed firsthand just how important toys are in bringing fun, laughter, and learning into the home,” says Steve Pasierb, president & CEO of The Toy Association. “This year’s TOTY finalists, carefully reviewed by a panel of expert judges, truly represent the creative spirit of the North American toy industry and our members, as well as the critical role toys play in bringing joy to kids and adults alike. It is a great honour to unveil the incredible slate of finalists today!”
