Turn LEGO’s new Sauron helmet into the Witch-king of Angmar with no additional pieces

Secretly wishing the LEGO Group had tackled the Witch-king of Angmar’s helmet before Sauron? No matter: you can now turn one into the other with this menacing alternate build.

11373 The Lord of the Rings: Sauron’s Helmet has just pulled the franchise into the LEGO Group’s cross-theme helmet collection, but while the Dark Lord himself was probably the obvious first choice (not least for making his minifigure more accessible), the Witch-king of Angmar’s helmet is right up there too in terms of iconic Middle-earth headgear. Thanks to Rebrickable user Wurger Bricks, you can now have both.

REBRICKABLE LEGO Icons 11373 The Lord of the Rings Saurons Helmet Witch king alt build 1

Only a week after Sauron’s helmet hit shelves, Wurger Bricks has already taken the majority of its 538 pieces and fashioned them into a convincing rendition of the Witch-king of Angmar’s helmet. The two helmets share a colour scheme and various pointy ends in-universe, so the part palette of 11373 The Lord of the Rings: Sauron’s Helmet lends itself well to the Witch-king’s helmet.

That’s not to take away from the design work that’s gone into this one, though: the gaping maw, protruding spikes and intimidating eye slits are all faithfully captured in Wurger Bricks’ build, which can be constructed exclusively from the pieces included in 11373 The Lord of the Rings: Sauron’s Helmet. The only thing you’ll be missing is an accompanying Witch-king minifigure, because the LEGO Group has yet to create a version based on his appearance in Return of the King.

11373 The Lord of the Rings: Sauron’s Helmet is available now for £64.99 / $69.99 / €74.99 and includes a Sauron minifigure only otherwise available in 10333 The Lord of the Rings: Barad-dûr. I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
