Unboxing a Lumibricks cyberpunk set: what’s inside?
Ever wondered what it’s like to unbox a Lumibricks set? We’ve got our hands on one of its cyberpunk cityscapes to find out…
If you’re not au fait with Lumibricks, consider this your introduction: it’s a construction toy brand with original designs that feature lighting right out of the box (hence the name), covering themes such as steampunk, the wild west, a cyberpunk city and more. It’s targeting adults first and foremost, and that becomes clear from the moment you crack open the box.

The box for 71005 Game Stack, one of several modular structures designed to connect with one another in a sprawling neon cityscape, is pretty compact given everything it contains. It feels pretty premium at first blush, though, from the matte texture to the way it hinges open, allowing for easy access to the contents without ruining the packaging.

Inside you’ll find a plethora of numbered plastic bags (which are unfortunately not recyclable at all), with multiple bags per building step, alongside five weighty instruction manuals, a smaller cardboard box full of lighting components and a service card. It’s very densely packed, so good luck getting it all back in once you’ve taken it out (although chances are you won’t be trying that anyway).

The lighting components are packaged inside separate pouches within the standalone orange cardboard box, which also includes a battery box, type-C USB cable and a couple of relevant tools (including a pair of tweezers).
Lumibricks instructions

There’s one very thick instruction manual for the bulk of the build, along with four separate smaller manuals for the various smaller structures that comprise the towering set. At first glance these instructions seem relatively easy to follow, with part call-outs for each step alongside dimensions for particular elements. What you’ll notice first when flicking through, however, is just how much of the manual prefaces the actual build.

First up there’s a list of everything included in the box so you can make sure nothing’s missing, followed by some quick troubleshooting advice for the lighting components, along with standard safety precautions. These are presented in English, Chinese and a variety of European languages, including French, German, Spanish and more.

Then there’s a detailed breakdown of everything inside the various packets of lighting components, which are nestled inside the separate cardboard box mentioned earlier, a guide to using the included brick separator and a four-step guide to removing wires from the connector using a pair of included tweezers.

Finally, there’s a handy list of similar colours with their corresponding images in the instructions, which should prove useful when trying to decode various shades of grey and metallic pieces.

Before you dive into the build proper, the instructions ask you to test the lighting components across the first two pouches, presumably to identify any points of failure before they’re integrated into the model and much harder to retrieve. Then it’s on to the build, which we’ll be covering in more detail in our next feature very soon.
For now, hopefully that gives you a taste of what it’s like to unbox a Lumibricks set if you’ve been curious…
