Up-scaled LEGO Star Wars minifigures we’d rather have had
LEGO Star Wars is joining the up-scaled minifigure range, but here are some enlarged minifigures we’d rather have had before Darth Vader.
75461 Up-Scaled Darth Vader Minifigure is easily the most unusual of the LEGO Star Wars sets releasing over the summer, slotting neatly into the list of every up-scaled LEGO minifigure set ever. It reimagines the most recent Darth Vader minifigure on a grander scale, complete with a size-appropriate lightsaber build.

The LEGO Group’s growing array of up-scaled minifigures was going to hit LEGO Star Wars eventually, though there are a few characters from the property that we’d have preferred to see as an up-scaled minifigure before Darth Vader.
Here are those characters, some of which we wouldn’t be shocked to see turn up later down the line. For now, it’s just 75461 Up-Scaled Darth Vader Minifigure as of June 1, 2026, but it’s unlike LEGO Star Wars to stop at just one model.
Yoda / Grogu

As unsettling as 75438 Yoda Bust may be, it only makes us curious as to what an up-scaled LEGO Yoda minifigure would look like. Whether based on the classic or modern minifigure of the character, a Yoda model would present the LEGO designers with a challenge, but one that would be able to lean into the blocky nature of LEGO without looking as uncomfortable as past Yoda models have.
Alternatively, an up-scaled baby figure of Grogu is another option, as Brickmethis has depicted. Their design is based on the retired gift-with-purchase, but there’s nothing to stop the LEGO Group from basing such a set on the updated Grogu figure design, which debuted earlier this month.
Stormtrooper

As iconic as Darth Vader is, an up-scaled Stormtrooper model would have been preferable for the community to freely customise. Think of this concept as a blank canvas for fans to build off of. A Clone Trooper may be even more appropriate, but this generic nature may be exactly why the LEGO Group didn’t opt for either minifigure. It’s likely easier to sell a named character like Darth Vader to Star Wars fans and even those less familiar with the franchise.
Chewbacca

The LEGO Group has already experimented with a buildable Chewbacca figure, though it suffered from similar issues to 75438 Yoda Bust in that organic characters inherently don’t work as well in LEGO form, unless made up of thousands upon thousands of bricks.
That’s why an up-scaled minifigure might suit Chewbacca better. The inevitably blocky nature of the model would be more easily explained in this format. The LEGO designers would also be able to lean into the stylised eye design of Chewbacca’s minifigure, rather than something more realistic.
The Mandalorian / Boba Fett / Jango Fett

Given how much the LEGO Group has been capitalising on The Mandalorian since its debut, and especially with the new movie coming this month, there’s a distinct lack of an up-scaled The Mandalorian minifigure. While the helmet based on the character is still on shelves, even depicting another Mandalorian-adjacent character, such as Boba or Jango Fett, would have served to build off the excitement of the film.
An alternative option would be to create a base Mandalorian model with some additional pieces for fans to customise as they see fit, though this would inevitably raise the price.
Classic R2-D2

Any kind of classic LEGO Star Wars up-scaled minifigure design would be a great addition to the theme, though perhaps better saved for an anniversary. As much as classic Luke and Leia would be fun releases, there’s something different about an up-scaled R2-D2 minifigure that makes it that much more appealing.
The LEGO Group’s current 75379 R2-D2 depicts a realistic take on the droid, but a stylised model of the droid’s original LEGO minifigure would feature shaping and a colour scheme that are different enough to stand out from shelves. It also presents the opportunity to hide several secrets within the cylindrical body and domed head.
