LEGO wants you to vote for a new Classic Space astronaut colour

The LEGO Group is launching two new fan votes for one of its latest LEGO Ideas sets, one of which will ask fans to choose a new colour for a Classic Space astronaut minifigure.

LEGO Ideas has today revealed two new sets coming our way from the second 2023 review, including Rob Vangansewinkel’s Minifigure Prize Machine. As part of the results announcement, the team confirmed that the upcoming set will include ‘a variety of fun minifigures’ – among which will be one related to LEGO Castle and another that introduces a new colourway for the Classic Space astronaut.

It’s up to you to decide what makes the cut, though, as the LEGO Group will be polling the public on both aspects of the new minifigures. That includes the precise colour for the astronaut’s suit, which will join the (deep breath) red, yellow, blue, green, orange, black, white, grey, purple and brown varieties that are already in circulation in one way or another.

The other poll will quiz fans on choices for a new LEGO Castle faction emblem. Exactly which options will be on the table for each of the polls has yet to be revealed, but the LEGO Ideas team has said it will provide a list of possibilities, which rules out nominating something like a completely trans-green astronaut.

Both of these polls will launch ‘in the coming weeks’. Head here to see the full results of the second 2023 review.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.

A good maroon/burgundy is my top choice. I have a classic space t-shirt in that colour and it looksgreat. looking ahead for the 50th anniversary 2028 they should do a rare gold one.
