Vote for your dream LEGO gift-with-purchase

You can now vote for a future LEGO gift-with-purchase from a list of 15 different candidates in the latest LEGO Ideas challenge.

LEGO Ideas has just launched the fan vote for its second contest within the space of a few hours, hot on the heels of its retooled poll for the ‘80s challenge. This one is hooked to the theme of a dream gift-with-purchase, with 15 different finalists making the shortlist for the fan vote. Each one is built from between 150 and 250 pieces as per the rules of the initial contest.

Despite that limitation, there’s a lot of variety on offer here, from buildable animals and microscale scenery to life-size objects and minifigure-scale dioramas. It’s almost a shame that only one of these will end up as an official model available to the masses (when spending enough at LEGO.com or in LEGO Stores at some undetermined point in time). Check out all the builds in the gallery below.

The voting period closes on May 7, and the winner will be announced no later than May 16. As well as seeing their submission turned into an official LEGO Ideas gift-with-purchase, the winning builder will receive the four most recent LEGO Ideas sets, along with 40712 Micro Rocket Launchpad. Two runners-up will each receive the Classic Space GWP alongside 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
