Watch: Rest in peace LEGO MINDSTORMS

The days are numbered for LEGO MINDSTORMS as the theme is confirmed to discontinue later this year, ending an era of motorised models.

LEGO MINDSTORMS has been a staple of the LEGO portfolio since 1998 and for over two decades, the theme has been offering brick-built robotic kits and models with innovations for each generation. Unfortunately, that era is coming to end in 2022.

The LEGO Group has confirmed that MINDSTORMS will be discontinued later this year, as we explain in our latest YouTube video.

Alternatively, the same short is also available on TikTok, depending on which platform you’d prefer to grieve the loss of this theme on.

You can check out our written report for more information too, including an explanation of what is next for the concept of LEGO robotic models, which isn’t going anywhere.

While we wait for the discontinuation of LEGO MINDSTORMS, this is likely going to be your last chance to pick up 51515 Robot Inventor and its compatible components on the official online store. There’s also a free Halloween GWP available while stocks last or until October 31 with orders of £100 / $100 / €100 too.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
