What if… LEGO 10321 Corvette was a classic Speed Champions car?

LEGO 10321 Corvette recreates an American motoring icon at a supersized scale – but what if this Chevy was built to match classic Speed Champions sets?

That’s the question posed by builder ibrickeditup, who decided to scale down the August 2023 car to just six studs wide. That matches the original scale for LEGO Speed Champions, before the theme jumped up to eight-studs-wide cars in 2020, and makes for a much smaller (and more affordable) Corvette to pop on your desk.

The smaller car retains the general proportions of the 1961 Chevrolet Corvette, and still manages to pack in enough detail to convince you that it’s the real deal. There’s some especially clever part usage around the front grille, bumper and headlights, with minifigure ice skates and binoculars both in the mix, while ibrickeditup has also taken advantage of the wide variety of sloped elements to capture the Corvette’s curvy body.

There seemingly wasn’t quite enough wiggle room within a six-stud footprint to replicate the slight offset in the car’s white side coves, which are flush with its bright red body in this model – but that’s a small price to pay for a Corvette that doesn’t ask quite as much of your wallet as the LEGO Icons set. You can find the instructions and a parts list over on Rebrickable.

If this tiny Chevy only has you itching for the official set even more, the good news is that 10321 Corvette is right around the corner. VIP members can buy it from August 1 (ahead of a wide August 4 release), when it will be available exclusively at LEGO.com and in LEGO Stores for £129.99 / $149.99 / €149.99.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
