Star Wars: The Acolyte is getting merch, so where are the LEGO sets?
Other toy companies are starting to reveal merchandise based on upcoming Disney+ series Star Wars: The Acolyte, so where are the tie-in LEGO sets?
2024 is a pretty jam-packed year for LEGO Star Wars. Not only is it the theme’s 25th anniversary, it’s also the 25th anniversary of The Phantom Menace. Celebrating both of those occasions has already gobbled up a lot of the 2024 slate, from remakes of Episode I sets (rumoured for May) to classics like the UCS TIE Interceptor, which is said to be returning to shelves with a fresh redesign for May the 4th.
What you won’t find in the current list of confirmed and rumoured LEGO Star Wars 2024 sets is anything based on Star Wars: The Acolyte, which feels very unusual given everything we know about the show, the LEGO Star Wars team and – as of this week – what other merchandising partners are up to. Let’s break apart the facts to figure out what’s going on…
Lucasfilm delays have blown up the LEGO Star Wars schedule
Star Wars: The Acolyte is debuting on Disney+ with a two-part premiere on June 4, 2024 – three days after a raft of new LEGO Star Wars sets are due on shelves. Instead of pulling from The Acolyte, though, those will apparently include two sets focused on The Mandalorian Season 3, a mech, a Microfighter and – bafflingly – a model inspired by Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, another Disney+ show that currently has no release date.
75374 Onyx Cinder was originally rumoured to be arriving in January, hot on the heels of Skeleton Crew’s original release window of late 2023. The live-action series has now been delayed until potentially late 2024, leaving its tie-in LEGO Star Wars set in limbo. But the latest rumours suggest the LEGO Group is gearing up to launch it just as The Acolyte arrives on screens… which doesn’t sound like the savviest business decision.
So that’s how things stand right now. But what’s really puzzling about this situation – even beyond the mix-up in dates with Skeleton Crew – is that the LEGO Group has seemingly ignored the potential for LEGO Star Wars: The Acolyte sets, because this is not a show about which Lucasfilm has been especially secretive. You only need to look to its other merchandising partners for the proof.
Hasbro has already revealed Star Wars: The Acolyte merch
Hot on the heels of the show’s trailer earlier this week, Hasbro unveiled a bunch of new additions to its Black Series action figure line-up inspired by The Acolyte. A total of five different characters are joining the fray, including Jedi Master Sol, Padawan Jecki Lon, Jedi Master Indara, Jedi Knight Yord Fandar, and the assassin Mae. All of these are based on their appearances in the live-action show.
There is one caveat, though: while pre-orders for the figures will apparently open this week, they won’t start shipping until ‘the summer’. That means Hasbro might not have managed to get its figures ready in time for the launch of the show, so there’s a chance that the LEGO Group actually has been working with Lucasfilm on Star Wars: The Acolyte sets – it just didn’t have enough lead time to have them ready for June.
We could yet see more LEGO Star Wars sets launch later in 2024 that we haven’t yet heard about (last year saw an entire wave drop in September), while the one unclaimed spot in the current list – 75392, said to be coming in August – could also be inspired by the show. Given that model is thought to be a creature build, though, it probably wouldn’t bring us any of the same characters that are being turned into Hasbro Black Series figures.
Is it too early for LEGO Star Wars: The Acolyte sets?
Either way, it would be more surprising than not for the LEGO Group to ignore the show altogether: while it’s still only dipping its toes into the pool of Star Wars video games with sets like 75335 BD-1 and the rumoured Cal Kestis 25th-anniversary minifigure, the LEGO Star Wars team has gone all-in on the franchise’s small-screen shows over the past few years, from The Mandalorian to Ahsoka.
And while Hasbro is apparently happy to show off its products months ahead of their launch, that isn’t the typical LEGO Group playbook – especially where the company’s Star Wars sets are concerned. So if it does have LEGO Star Wars: The Acolyte sets up its sleeve, we probably won’t see them until just before they hit shelves, whether that’s in late 2024, early 2025 or even further into next year.
It would be remiss to miss out, though: Lucasfilm has announced that the Star Wars: The Acolyte trailer racked up 51.3 million views in its first 24 hours, setting a new record for Disney+ Star Wars trailers. The hype around the saga’s first High Republic-era show is clearly pretty strong.

Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
