Where to start with LEGO Speed Champions in 2025
LEGO Speed Champions is celebrating 10 years of the theme this year, but if you’re yet to dip your toe into it, here are some good places to start.
After 10 years of LEGO Speed Champions sets, the theme has dipped into almost every area of motorsports and cars, from high-octane Formula 1 to fictional cars and characters. There’s something for everyone with a love of cars to enjoy – but also a lot of choice if you’re looking for your first set.
As a budget-friendly and size-conscious theme, it’s an easy theme to get into collecting. We’ve gathered together some tempting starting points for people with all sorts of motoring interests, starting with…
Get race ready

Obviously, the 2025 LEGO Speed Champions Formula 1 wave is great for anyone with a love of the sport, with one set for every theme based on the 2024 livery. If you have a favourite team, that’s the most up-to-date version to start off with – but make sure you don’t overlook some past gems.
For example, 76925 Aston Martin Safety Car & AMR23 is a neat set that packs a lot of detail into the Formula 1 race car, as well as putting the spotlight on the safety cars. For many Formula 1 fans, these are the unsung heroes and fan favourites on the track and this matching green combo of a race car and safety car fleshes out your grid in a more well-rounded way.
Capture some movie magic

There’s more to life than racing – and that means family. LEGO Speed Champions has visited a couple of movie franchises over the years, chief among them James Bond and Fast & Furious. 76917 2 Fast 2 Furious Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34) is an accurate recreation of Paul Walker’s iconic car, complete with his minifigure sat beside his on-board nos.
Hit the road

If you prefer tiny recreations of cars designed for the road, look no further than the dynamic duo of 76924 Mercedes-AMG G 63 & Mercedes-AMG SL 63. The punchy colour scheme of yellow and black pairs perfectly together and special mention has to go to the G-Wagon miniature, which packs in a lot of detail in its compact size.
Pay homage to the classics

76934 Ferrari F40 Supercar returns to what many consider as the golden age of cars, replicating the real-life rear spoiler, the sloped nose, and the alloy wheels. The F40 was the last car to be approved by Enzo Ferrari himself, so you can build a genuine piece of motoring history in this 318-piece build.
Something completely different

LEGO Speed Champions can catch some flak for being samey but you can’t say the same about 76923 Lamborghini Lambo V12 Vision GT Super Car. Lamborghini often pushes the boundaries with their car design and this vehicle’s unique silhouette has been artfully captured in a model with a series of creative building techniques. You certainly won’t be bored building it and it’ll stand out on your shelf even if you already own other sets from the theme.
