Why LEGO Star Wars has a green rabbit now

A ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ Star Wars Celebration LEGO reveal actually has a fascinating history when you dig into its decades-old background.

In amongst all of the chaos that was Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025, there was one announcement that was a real deep cut into Star Wars history. Not only is Rebuild the Galaxy back for a second season, there are some teased characters that mark a change for the series.

On the whole, LEGO Star Wars TV shows and shorts have typically been extended adverts for sets currently on shelves. That was true for the first season of Rebuild the Galaxy; no matter how fun the plot, the show centred around ships that you could (and many would) also buy to build at home.

However, the three characters joining Sig Greebling on the show poster for the second season are not ones you can currently get, including the retired combo of 75371 Chewbacca and 40539 Ahsoka Tano. However, there’s also a green rabbit that some fans might recognise as Jaxxon the rabbit – and his appearance uncovers a story that goes back decades.

Learn all about Jaxxon and what this means for the wider LEGO Star Wars canon with Matthew in our latest video by clicking the embedded video below, or heading over to our YouTube channel.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
