Why Nike Dunk is the perfect LEGO shoe choice

The LEGO Group has experimented with brick-built shoes before, but the newly revealed Nike is, if you’ll excuse the pun, a slam Dunk.

The LEGO Group’s latest reveal of LEGO 43008 Nike Dunk expands on past buildable shoes, like 2021’s 10282 adidas Originals Superstar, but manages to pack more of a punch. The colour scheme, the brick-built logo, the dynamic pose – it all comes together to make a much bigger statement.

Made up of 1,180 pieces and set to launch on July 1 for £89.99 / $99.99 / €99.99, 43008 Nike Dunk also builds on a deep cultural history within the world of Nike, adding to its more dynamic entry to the LEGO System. In fact, there’s a lot of lore contributing to why the Dunk was chosen for this LEGO set – and Matthew has gathered all of it into one place.

If you’re not up to date on your Nike history, grab a drink and a snack and settle in to learn why the shoe choice for 43008 Nike Dunk is not just a savvy design choice but also based on some long-standing marketing principles too. I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
