12 of the best retiring LEGO sets to prioritise in 2025

Hundreds of LEGO sets are due to retire by the end of 2025, including some of the biggest and best around right now. Here are 12 you should prioritise before the year’s out…

Following the retirement of hundreds of other sets at the end of 2024, it’s now time to start worrying about missing out on an entirely different assortment in 2025. But you can quell the panic by working out what your priorities are for the year ahead and saving up and shopping accordingly – and the best way to do that is with a handle on exactly which sets are retiring this year.

You can find a complete list of LEGO sets leaving shelves in 2025 by heading here, but with hundreds to sift through there’s always a chance you’ll overlook something. To that end, we’ve picked out 12 of the best retiring LEGO sets to push to the top of your wishlist by December. Remember though that sets can sell out in the weeks and months leading up to the end of the year – and that these dates are subject to change.

12 – 10297 Boutique Hotel

Theme: LEGO Icons Price: £199.99 / $229.99 / €229.99 Pieces: 3,066 Release date: Jan 1, 2022

LEGO for Adults 10297 Boutique Hotel 39 1024x576

Two LEGO modular buildings are currently scheduled to retire in 2025, but if you can only afford one, make it 10297 Boutique Hotel. The 2022 set does all sorts of interesting things with the modular format, not least incorporating an unconventional footprint for its main building, and is decked out in a unique colour scheme to boot. 10312 Jazz Club is still worth a look if you’re collecting them all, though.

11 – 71821 Cole’s Titan Dragon Mech

Theme: LEGO NINJAGO Price: £89.99 / $99.99 / €99.99 Pieces: 1,055 Release date: Jun 1, 2024

LEGO NINJAGO 71821 Coles Titan Dragon Mech 1024x576

The biggest LEGO NINJAGO mech to date is perhaps also the best LEGO NINJAGO mech to date, targeted squarely at older builders (just without an 18+ label). But potentially as a result of its place in the regular retail line-up, 71821 Cole’s Titan Dragon Mech is currently scheduled to retire only 18 months after it first debuted – so if mechs are your thing, make sure you snap it up before it’s gone for good.

10 – 75331 The Razor Crest

Theme: LEGO Star Wars Price: £519.99 / $599.99 / €599.99 Pieces: 6,187 Release date: Oct 3, 2022

LEGO Star Wars 75331 The Razor Crest featured 2 1024x576

While 75374 The Onyx Cinder may be the latest LEGO Star Wars victim of a ship with an unexpected fate on-screen, 75331 The Razor Crest did it first. The good news is that Din Djarin has apparently got himself a brand new Razor Crest for his 2026 silver-screen outing – but for some reason, the UCS model is retiring at the end of 2025. Best to snap it up at retail before it inevitably rises in price following the premiere of The Mandalorian & Grogu.

9 – 60446 Modular Galactic Spaceship

Theme: LEGO City Price: £69.99 / $79.99 / €79.99 Pieces: 717 Release date: Jan 1, 2025

LEGO City 60446 Modular Galactic Spaceship lifestyle featured 1024x576

LEGO City’s final exploration of outer space (for now at least) only arrived on shelves nine days ago, but the LEGO Group has already pencilled it in for retirement at the end of 2025. That’s a surprisingly short life cycle for what is arguably one of the best LEGO City space sets so far, so don’t miss out if you’ve had your eye on 60446 Modular Galactic Spaceship.

8 – 21344 The Orient Express Train

Theme: LEGO Ideas Price: £259.99 / $299.99 / €299.99 Pieces: 2,540 Release date: Dec 1, 2023

LEGO Ideas 21344 Orient Express featured 1 1024x576

A good number of LEGO Ideas sets are retiring in 2025, and many of them rank among the best LEGO sets available right now. Case in point, 21344 The Orient Express Train occupies a slot in Brick Fanatics’ Top 20 LEGO sets list – but will make its final journey before 2025 is through. LEGO train fans shouldn’t let this one leave the station without hopping on board.

7 – 71426 Piranha Plant

Theme: LEGO Super Mario Price: £57.99 / $59.99 / €64.99 Pieces: 540 Release date: Nov 6, 2023

lego super mario 71427 piranha plant lifestyle 1 featured 1024x576

LEGO Super Mario sets come in all shapes and sizes, but if you’re after an affordable display piece that doesn’t require digital figures, look no further than 71426 Piranha Plant. Also retiring this year is 71411 The Mighty Bowser (if your pockets are slightly deeper and your shelf space slightly bigger), but the plant is the sort of 18+ build that can assimilate happily into any display, LEGO-focused or otherwise.

6 – 43222 Disney Castle

Theme: LEGO Disney Price: £344.99 / $399.99 / €399.99 Pieces: 4,837 Release date: Jul 1, 2023

LEGO 43222 Disney Castle featured 1 1024x576

At the end of 2024, the LEGO Group updated 43222 Disney Castle’s box art to remove the 100th anniversary branding, suggesting the 2023 set would be sticking around for a good while yet. But it’s actually slated to retire in 2025, which would mean an overall much shorter shelf life for this updated castle than its predecessor, 2016’s 71040 The Disney Castle. Don’t sleep on it.

5 – 76923 Lamborghini Lambo V12 Vision Gran Turismo

Theme: LEGO Speed Champions Price: £20.99 / $26.99 / €26.99 Pieces: 230 Release date: Jun 1, 2024

lego technic 76923 LAMBORGHINI LAMBO V12 VISION GT lifestyle featured 1024x576

If Formula 1 isn’t your thing, you may be looking back at older LEGO Speed Champions sets to explore in lieu of the upcoming March 2025 wave. Well, look no further than 76923 Lamborghini Lambo V12 Vision Gran Turismo: it may not be the most traditional of cars, but it’s certainly one of the most interesting builds you’ll ever come across for the price point. A hidden gem of the 2024 range, to be sure.

4 – 76391 Hogwarts Icons Collectors’ Edition

Theme: LEGO Harry Potter Price: £259.99 / $299.99 / €299.99 Pieces: 3,010 Release date: Sep 1, 2021

LEGO Harry Potter 76391 Hogwarts Icons Collectors Edition featured 1 1024x576

Back when 76391 Hogwarts Icons Collectors’ Edition first arrived on shelves, many LEGO Harry Potter fans were left baffled: who was this for? Why were we getting it instead of (for example) Gringotts? Three and a half years (and one Gringotts set) later, the broader appeal of this beautiful collection of buildable objects, topped by a magical life-sized Hedwig, is much clearer. If you’ve dismissed it previously, it’s time to give it another shake before it leaves shelves for good in 2025.

3 – 21335 Motorised Lighthouse

Theme: LEGO Ideas Price: £259.99 / $299.99 / €299.99 Pieces: 2,065 Release date: Sep 1, 2023

LEGO Ideas 21335 Motorised Lighthouse lifestyle 1 featured 1024x576

Another LEGO Ideas set that’s earned a place in Brick Fanatics’ Top 20 LEGO sets list, 21335 Motorised Lighthouse boasts a uniquely universal appeal among the current portfolio. It’s attractive enough to be displayed anywhere, while also incorporating an absorbing function that will delight any and all guests who happen to spot it in your house. It helps that it’s a fascinating build, too. But it’s heading for the door in 2025 as things stand…

2 – 76178 Daily Bugle

Theme: LEGO Marvel Price: £299.99 / $349.99 / €349.99 Pieces: 3,772 Release date: Jun 1, 2021

LEGO Marvel 76178 Daily Bugle overview featured 1024x576

Towards the back end of 2024, the LEGO Group extended 76178 Daily Bugle’s planned shelf life into 2026 – but it’s now reverted back to a 2025 retirement for the first LEGO Marvel modular building. If you’ve been holding out on this super Spider-Man set, 2025 is the time to finally take the plunge – you know it’s only going to get more expensive after retirement, not least thanks to its laundry list of exclusive minifigures. We’re never seeing Daredevil, Blade or Punisher again…

1 – 10305 Lion Knights’ Castle

Theme: LEGO Icons Price: £344.99 / $399.99 / €399.99 Pieces: 4,514 Release date: Aug 3, 2022

LEGO 10305 Lion Knights Castle lifestyle 2 featured 1024x576

Cited by many as one of the greatest LEGO sets of all time, let alone the greatest LEGO Castle set of all time or the greatest LEGO set available right now, 10305 Lion Knights’ Castle was (and remains) an extraordinary celebration of the LEGO Group’s 90th anniversary. 2025 will apparently signal the end of the road for this mighty medieval model, though – so make sure you find room in your budget this year for what’s also a high-flyer in our Top 20 LEGO sets list.

Check out our retiring LEGO sets page for a full breakdown of when every current LEGO set is due to leave production.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
