40417 Year of the Ox gift-with-purchase available now at LEGO.com

The latest Chinese New Year promotional set, 40417 Year of the Ox, is now available with qualifying orders at LEGO.com.

You’ll need to spend £85 / $85 / €85 to get your hands on the adorable brick-built animal, which is available until February 14 (or while stocks last). It’s the eighth such model the LEGO Group has released to celebrate the Lunar Festival, which begins on February 12, and the seventh in this style.

Check out our review of the freebie if you’re on the fence, then head to LEGO.com and stock up on February’s new sets, including 21325 Medieval Blacksmith and 71741 NINJAGO City Gardens – the latter of which is now available to everyone, not just VIP members.

Last year’s LEGO Friends Valentine’s polybag 30411 Chocolate Box & Flower is also once again available at the online store, free with purchases over £40 / $40 / €40. Those promos stack, so a single order of at least £85 / $85 / €85 will net you both of them in one fell swoop.

The newest VIP Collectible Coin is also now available through the VIP Rewards Centre, featuring a skull-and-bones throwback to the classic LEGO Pirates theme. You’ll need to spend 1,150 points to grab it, which equates to roughly £7.20 in vouchers, so make your decision wisely.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
