66780 might be the first LEGO Ideas set bundle

The LEGO instructions database may have revealed a new set bundle, but this time for a theme that doesn’t usually receive any – LEGO Ideas.

66780 has appeared on LEGO.com’s instructions database and similar set numbers have been used for bundles in the past. These include ones for Super Mario figures, Classic, Creator 3-in-1 and Collectible Minifigures. However, the listing states that this item is part of LEGO Ideas and we can’t recall the theme ever having an official bundle.

The fan-inspired theme’s most recent selection of sets has been mostly on the expensive side apart from some gifts-with-purchase and we’re not entirely sure which models could be eligible for a bundle without making it either too good value or too expensive. Previously, official LEGO bundles have rarely exceeded 1,500 pieces, which a LEGO Ideas bundle seems likely to do with little effort.

However, 21340 Tales of the Space is notably cheaper than a lot of other LEGO Ideas sets released in recent years at $49.99 / £44.99/ €49.99. That’s closely followed by  21331 Sonic the Hedgehog – Green Hill Zone at £69.99 / $79.99 / €79.99.

Nothing regarding 66780 has been officially confirmed by the LEGO Group at the time of writing but we may find out in time exactly what this item is, whether it is a bundle and, if so, what it contains.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
