Lord of the Rings and Star Wars BrickHeadz arriving in 2023
The BrickHeadz theme is seemingly introducing three Lord of the Rings sets next year, as well as a lone Star Wars model.
The Lord of the Rings franchise is undergoing something of a revival at the moment, thanks to Amazon’s Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power TV show. However, Peter Jackson’s original trilogy may still hold a special place in your heart – and as luck will have it, a trio of new LEGO Lord of the Rings sets inspired by those movies is materialising next year.
The reveal comes to us courtesy of the official LEGO instructions database, with postings here often preceding new set announcements. It appears that these sets will be part of the BrickHeadz theme rather than the minifigure-scale sets we’re used to getting.
Offering a similar concept to the Funko Pop! vinyl toys, BrickHeadz sets offer heavily stylised, brick-built versions of beloved pop culture characters. As such – while they might not be quite what you had in mind – the longevity of the BrickHeadz theme suggests there’s an audience out there for them.
The set names indicate the new BrickHeadz will be sold in pairs – Frodo and Gollum, Gandalf and the Balrog, and Aragorn and Arwen. This actually marks the first time a Balrog has appeared in LEGO form, which may make the set an appealing prospect to Lord of the Rings fans more broadly. The Star Wars set, meanwhile, will include a lone Tusken Raider figure – which should pair well with the variety of Star Wars BrickHeadz previously released.
You can see all of the new BrickHeadz in the table below. Official images of the sets should be on the way soon.
