First look at all three flagship LEGO The Lord of the Rings sets together

The LEGO Group has shared a couple of first glimpses at all three of its flagship LEGO The Lord of the Rings sets on display together, including Rivendell, Barad-dûr and The Shire.

10354 The Lord of the Rings: The Shire joins 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell and 10333 The Lord of the Rings: Barad-dûr on shelves on April 2, for a combined RRP of £1,059.97, a total 13,655 pieces and 41 minifigures all in all. But beyond those baseline stats, how are all these sets going to look combined on your shelf at home, given they span such drastically different locations?

The LEGO Group has helpfully answered that one (to a degree) with a single shot in The Shire’s press release of all three flagship The Lord of the Rings sets side by side. As expected, 10354 The Lord of the Rings: The Shire looks pretty small sandwiched between its two considerably bigger and more expensive predecessors.

There’s another brief glimpse at all three sets at the end of the promotional video on the LEGO.com listing for The Shire, which features a guided tour of the new set (with brief stops at Rivendell and Barad-dûr) from Samwise Gamgee actor Sean Astin. They’re not all side by side this time, but it gives us a good idea of what these sets might look like displayed in the same room, if not on the same shelf.

We’ll doubtless get better looks at 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell, 10333 The Lord of the Rings: Barad-dûr and 10354 The Lord of the Rings: The Shire together once reviews of the latest LEGO Icons set start to surface. For now, head here for a closer look at everything included in the newest rendition of Bag End.

10354 The Lord of the Rings: The Shire launches April 2 for LEGO Insiders (and April 5 for everyone else) for £229.99 in the UK, $269.99 in the US and €269.99 in Europe. Anyone buying from April 2 to 8 (or while stocks last) will receive a free copy of 40761 The Lord of the Rings: Sméagol & Déagol.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
