An unexpected LEGO crossover – Lord of the Muppets style

In an unexpected journey of a crossover, one Reddit user has created the cast of Lord of the Rings in LEGO minifigure form – but not quite in the style you’d expect.

Reddit user RwBricks has used nine minifigures to make up several of the iconic Lord of the Rings characters, including fan favourites like Samwise Gamgee, Legolas and Gandalf. And in order to do that, this user has used the very recognisable features of the Muppets.

The now retired 71033 The Muppets minifigures were released in 2022, showcasing 12 of the famous Muppet characters. And of course with the release of hugely popular 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell this year, we now have 15 official LEGO Lord of the Rings characters available to get.

The Muppets version of the Lord of the Rings cast doesn’t exactly include every outfit from the actual Rivendell minifigures but does a clever job of making it look that way, with Fozzie Bear as Gandalf and Kermit as Frodo in particular looking fairly accurate to their counterparts.

One Reddit user commented on the recognisability of the design, stating: “I can’t believe I can see Pepe’s face with just three bricks.”

While you can no longer buy the Muppets minifigures direct from LEGO.com, 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell is still available on there for your minifigure mixing needs (included of course as part of a very detailed Lord of the Rings LEGO set).
