Best basket fillers to top up your LEGO purchases in January 2024

There’s potential for a gift-with-purchase in January 2024 and despite the many new sets, you may need something small to reach any thresholds.

While we don’t know of any LEGO gifts-with-purchases in January 2024, though there’s at least one candidate, smaller sets and accessories can be a great way of getting your order total over the next required threshold. For those spending hundreds of pounds, dollars or euros already, a handful more could score you an extra set.

Here are a few inexpensive additions to your basket ready for January 2024. Anything under £5 / $5 / €5 is a good pick though, including Pick a Brick as long as you don’t mind potentially waiting a bit longer for your order.

A polybag

Most polybags on LEGO.com appear to be out of stock worldwide, and it’s a limited range when they’re in stock either way. Thankfully, 30464 El Fuego’s Stunt Cannon is still available in the UK for £3.49. At that price, it’s one of the best basket fillers and comes with a printed helmet that is no longer available following the retirement of LEGO Hidden Side.

A lightsaber pen

A range of lightsaber pens – 5007767 Lightsaber Gel Pen – Red, 5007769 Lightsaber Gel Pen – Green, 5007768 Lightsaber Gel Pen – Lavender and 5007784 Lightsaber Gel Pen – Azure – are available for £3.65 each. They’re also temporarily out of stock in Europe for €3.99 and they may be restocked before January 1, 2024. This low price makes them a good pick as a unique treat for yourself or a gift for someone else.

LEGO Collectible Minifigures

As well as the currently-discounted 71039 Marvel Series 2 for £2.79 / $3.49, which is scheduled to retire before 2024, 71045 Series 25 is launching soon for £3.49 / $4.99 / €3.99. Both are possibly the best picks for a LEGO basket filler, offering exclusive minifigures and desirable minifigures for a low price. Though they’re blind-boxed, as long as it’s your first minifigure in the series it won’t matter which one you get. Otherwise, some characters are worth getting duplicates of.

Discounted DOTS

LEGO DOTS’ end is on the horizon and though we don’t yet know whether or not its sets will continue to be sold next year, it seems likely as long as there is enough stock left. Your best bet for a basket-filling LEGO DOTS set is the in-stock and discounted 41963 Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse Stitch-on Patch with rare LEGO Disney printed designs as well as the patch piece that can be sewn onto clothing. It’s available at the time of writing for £3.59 / $4.19 / €4.19.

A keyring

There are many LEGO keyrings available worldwide, but we’ll highlight some of those that are discounted and in stock here. This includes 854159 2×4 Sand Green Keyring and 854154 Carnage Keyring for £3.49 / $4.19 / €4.19 each. Alternatively, four new LEGO Marvel keyrings launch on January 1, 2024, including one for Loki, Spider-Man, Ghost Spider and Groot.

A Brick Separator

It’s not the most exciting pick but it is the least expensive. 630 Brick Separator costs just £2.19 / €2.49 and includes a single piece. While it’s not available in the US, the always-useful tool is ideal as a basket filler, despite the fact that most models include one now. Still, for those who have dozens already, one more as well as a GWP isn’t the worst arrangement.
