The Brick Search LEGO CMF survey: Have your say on the present and future of minifigure collecting

The Brick Search Collectible Minifigures 2024 survey is up and running – take it now to make your voice heard after a year of massive change to this popular LEGO theme.

LEGO CMFs in blind cardboard box packaging weren’t new for 2024, having first been introduced with Marvel Series 2 towards the end of the year prior. But January’s Series 25 did have something different – a small code on the base, next to the barcode. Brick Search quickly realised the larger versions of these codes could be scanned to reveal which minifigure was inside the box, and a new way of collecting CMFs was born.

Scannable codes on cardboard boxes meant an end to weighing boxes, trying to shove a camera into a box’s crevices or, worst of all, ripping a box open before buying it and discarding it if it didn’t contain minifigure wanted. The Brick Search minifigure scanner made it possible to see what minifigure was in the box before opening it, changing the face of CMF collecting.

Now, we want to know what you think. Have scannable codes changed how you collect CMFs? What was the good, bad and ugly of CMF collecting in 2024? And what would you like to see next – both from the CMF theme itself and the Brick Search minifigure scanner? The survey should take about 20 minutes to complete and gives LEGO fans the chance to share their thoughts on one of the hobby’s most popular themes after 12 months that have upended how CMFs are collected.

But it’s not just about CMFs as they are now – or the Brick Search minifigure scanner as it is today. We want to know what you want for the future, from the theme and from our app. LEGO is always evolving – minifigure scanners weren’t even a thing this time last year – so what do you hope the landscape looks like in another 12 months?

Obviously we can’t speak for the LEGO Group but as for Brick Search? The world is our oyster, the possibilities almost limitless. We had the first minifigure scanner up and running within days of it being realised those little codes could be scanned and provide unique information. Imagine what we could do next…
