Now is the worst – or the best – time for this LEGO Ideas project to reach 10K

The latest LEGO Ideas project to make it past 10,000 supporters might have come a hair’s breadth too late to make it as a real LEGO set.

With rumours swirling for LEGO Icons 10352 Krusty Burger, the timing for Airbricks95’s ill-fated Simpsons-inspired LEGO Ideas project, Springfield Elementary School Simpsons, to reach 10,000 supporters might be a little unlucky. The fan-designed set is a detailed rendition of Springfield Elementary, complete with minifgures of Bart and Lisa Simpson – the two characters from the principal family for whom it would make sense to appear at the school.

The interior features various classrooms, including the chalkboard where Bart writes lines during the introduction and the music room for Lisa to practice her saxophone in.

However, it seems perhaps unlikely that the LEGO Group would select a Simpsons set when it could be working on one of its own. Of course, Krusty Burger and Springfield Elementary are two very distinct and separate locations, so it could be selected as a worthwhile companion set to the rumoured LEGO Icons one – if indeed that’s on its way.

We can’t know for sure whether Springfield Elementary School Simpsons will become a LEGO Ideas set for a good while yet, so there’s still hope yet. Remind yourself of its competition in the third 2024 review round in the table below.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
