Gaming-inspired LEGO Ideas project will be popular with Power Miner fans

LEGO Power Miner fans will be crossing their fingers that this gaming-inspired project from a fan designer makes it onto shelves as a LEGO Ideas set.

Although fan designer JaoGosma was inspired by 2018’s Deep Rock Galactic, creating a build based on the Drilldozer, nicknamed Doretta, Deep Rock Galactic Drilldozer evokes elements of the long-dormant Power Miners theme. While the classic LEGO theme featured bright colours, the technical builds for drilling and mining equipment is similar.

Indeed, the fan designer seems to be aware of the varied appeal of their design, writing in the description: “I think it would bring joy not only to fans of the game but also to most people in general, since the Drilldozer looks really cool.”

The build features a set of hidden wheels on the underside to ensure that the treads move nicely, as well as interactive features like a rotating head and drill and articulated legs on the mule.

Now, it’s up to the LEGO Ideas review team to decide whether Deep Rock Galactic Drilldozer will enter LEGO Ideas as an unofficial Power Miners return. Below is a reminder of all 28 other fan-designed projects in the current review round.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
