BrickLink celebrates 25th anniversary with LEGO cake display

You can get involved with BrickLink’s 25th anniversary by helping to decorate a giant LEGO cake that will go on display in their headquarters.

Alongside another year of BrickLink Designer Program series, BrickLink turns 25 this year and what is likely the biggest part of the celebrations has just started. The 25 Years of BrickLink activity has begun on the website and is accepting entries until April 21.

There’s no prize to take home in this activity, which would be rare for BrickLink anyway, but there’s increased incentive to take part as some submitted builds will be placed onto a giant cake displayed at the BrickLink office – a giant model that has been made by the team at LEGOLAND California, but the cake will not go on display at the theme park.

Make sure that your build is between 10 and 300 parts, measuring at most eight studs wide and deep and 10 pieces or 30 studs tall. Models must be related to one of four categories – Connect, Design, Discover, and Shop. These categories have been chosen to reflect the community, Studio, the BrickLink Designer Program and more. Stick to these categories and avoid any IP and you’ll be off to a good start.

For those wanting to get some practice building in using a smaller number of elements, and to have a part to play in BrickLink’s 25th anniversary, click here to head to the activity page and enter. It should also help to pass the time until the next major BrickLink reveal in May.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
