Two BrickLink Designer Program Series 1 LEGO sets sell out, with a third close behind

Two of the five fan-designed LEGO sets in Series 1 of the BrickLink Designer Program have now sold out completely, with a third not far behind.

Crowdfunding for the first batch of sets kicked off at 4pm GMT yesterday (February 7), with up to 30,000 copies of each model up for grabs. SleeplessNight’s Mountain Fortress – a homage to LEGO Castle and the Black Falcons – sold through its entire allocation within around three hours, while DistractedBldr’s Snack Shack followed shortly after.

Those two builds sit at either end of the price spectrum in this cohort, which is only the first of at least six planned BrickLink Designer Program series, leaving only the mid-range sets (if you can call them that) left to pre-order. But Mind_the_Brick’s Old Train Engine Shed is on the brink of selling out too, with roughly 90% of its total 30,000 copies claimed.

Meanwhile, Ilucky’s Western-inspired General Store and NicolasCarlier’s Parisian Street are both sitting at just over or under 50% of their maximum pre-orders, so you’ve got a little bit of breathing room if you’re still on the fence with either of those. You can check out all the details on the five sets – and add those remaining straight to your cart at LEGO.com – in the table below.

While the LEGO Group will place a temporary hold on the funds required for the BrickLink Designer Program sets (to check you can afford them), you won’t actually be charged until they ship – and current estimates for delivery are July 2024. Series 1 crowdfunding will close on February 28 at 8pm GMT regardless of whether all 30,000 copies of the remaining sets have sold, but all five are guaranteed to enter production.

Crowdfunding for the five Series 2 finalists will open in June, with Series 3 following in October. Series 4 is currently in the fan vote phase, so head over to BrickLink to show your love for your favourite builds – and you might one day be able to buy them.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
