Build LEGO Icons 10318 Concorde in the time it took to fly to NYC

When 10318 Concorde lands next month, it should be possible to build the LEGO Icons set in the time it took for the real-life aircraft to fly to NYC.

A new LEGO Icons set will be landing on September 4 for VIPs, when 10318 Concorde touches down priced at £169.99 / $199.99 / €199.99. The 2,083-piece build will then be available for everyone else a few days later, with the recreation of the iconic (and supersonic) aircraft getting a wider release from September 7.

Arriving as a 105cm long, 15cm tall and 43cm wide build, 10318 Concorde can be displayed in either flight mode or take-off and landing mode, features functioning landing gear, a microscale interior and much more. Aimed squarely at the adult collector market (check out our latest YouTube video for more details), the model should keep seasoned builders occupied for at least a few hours.

In fact, it may actually be possible to construct 10318 Concorde in around three hours, depending on how experienced you are with sets of this scale. In our review of 21338 A-Frame Cabin, we mentioned that it took us around two-and-a-half hours to assemble the 2,082-piece LEGO Ideas model, which is only one element short of 10318 Concorde’s total piece count.

Based on that time scale, it should therefore be possible to fully build the upcoming LEGO Icons set in around the same time that the real-life aircraft took to fly from London to New York City. Travelling at supersonic speeds, Concorde once set a record for such a flight, making it from one location to the other in a speedy two hours, 52 minutes and 59 seconds.

Of course you may not want to rush your build of 10318 Concorde at the same breakneck pace and instead take your time assembling and admiring the LEGO Icons model before proudly displaying the finished build for all to see.

10318 Concorde is scheduled for launch on September 4 for VIPs and everyone else from September 7, with the 2,083-piece set priced at £169.99 / $199.99 / €199.99. For more information on the upcoming supersonic model, be sure to check out our visual tour and gallery right here.
