Codes are back for LEGO Minifigures Series 26, so download Brick Search

Scannable codes are confirmed for Series 26 of LEGO Collectible Minifigures, so download the Brick Search app to be ready for their release this May.

The LEGO Group introduced scannable data matrix codes (QR-code-style boxes) on the underside of the packaging of Minifigures for Series 25.

The larger of these data matrix codes (brought in midway through production of Series 25) contained information unique to each character from the series and, given that these codes are scannable, it meant that the Brick Search app could scan the code and identify the minifigure inside without having to open the box.

This solution to the issues otherwise caused by the LEGO Group’s switch from plastic bag packaging to cardboard boxes appears to have worked, as it looks like scannable codes are again going to be used for Series 26 Minifigures.

A complete box of 36 minifigures has appeared in the wild ahead of their May 1 launch and it confirms at the very least that scannable data matrix codes are once again in use on the underside of the packaging. Whether or not these codes are 100% unique to each of the 12 Space-inspired characters still needs to be verified, but the signs are very positive.

Brick Search will work to verify and test that these codes work before programming them into the app ready for May 1’s official launch, when Series 26 Minifigures will be available worldwide to buy.

Once added to the Brick Search app (which we will confirm publicly) you will be able to scan Series 26 Minifigures in store and identify each character quickly and accurately, meaning you can seek out exactly which minifigures you want from day one! Who else is building an army of Ice Planet penguins?

So, take a better look at each of the 12 characters due for release and download Brick Search on iOS or Android now to be ready to scan the Minifigures packaging on release day.

Please note: for Series 25 there were at least two sets of codes, split between the UK/EU and US/ROW markets – they look similar but are different for where the packaging was produced. These codes that have appeared early look to be the UK/EU codes that we are one step further to verifying and programming into Brick Search. That means that the hunt for US/ROW codes now begins…get in touch if you think you find some!
