Confirmed and rumoured LEGO sets revealed in new Marvel’s What If…? trailer

The latest trailer for Marvel’s What If…? is now online, giving us a closer look at the source material for both confirmed and rumoured LEGO sets and minifigures.

The animated series – which rips apart reality to explore possible alternate scenarios in the Marvel multiverse, mainly involving: what if this character was actually that character? – debuts on Disney+ on August 11, 10 days after the launch of at least two tie-in LEGO sets, 76201 Captain Carter & The Hydra Stomper and 76194 Tony Stark’s Sakaarian Iron Man.

Alongside a great glimpse at Peggy Carter stepping into the shoes of Captain America (taking on the mantle of Captain Carter), this trailer also gives us a first look at the Hulkbuster-style mech piloted by Steve Rogers in 76201 Captain Carter & The Hydra Stomper.

This trailer also gives us a first glimpse of some of the characters reported to appear in this year’s alleged Marvel Collectible Minifigures series. The latest rumoured line-up includes a more detailed version of Captain Carter, a zombified Captain America, T’Challa as Star Lord, Spider Supreme, and Warlord Gamora (featuring Thanos’s armour).

All of those characters can be seen in some form in the trailer, giving us a much better idea of what to expect from their minifigures – should those initial rumours pan out. Nothing is confirmed for now, but with What If…? a little over a month away, we’ll likely find out for sure pretty soon.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
