New LEGO Star Wars animated special based on The Mandalorian confirmed for September

The latest LEGO Star Wars animated special has been confirmed as a Mandalorian-themed adventure, arriving on streaming services in September 2026.

Earlier today, we reported that a LEGO Star Wars screening event scheduled for August 15 at D23 had briefly appeared online under the title LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian before being removed.

It has now been officially confirmed that LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian is the title of the next animated LEGO Star Wars release, launching on Disney+ on September 2.

Alongside the announcement, we have also received the first poster for the special, recreating in LEGO form the iconic meeting scene between Din Djarin and Grogu from the final moments of the show's first episode.

The official Star Wars website describes the special as being ‘filled with unexpected laughs and action-packed fun’, adding that it will celebrate the favourite stories and characters from all three seasons of the show.

Based on that description, the special could retell the key moments from the entire series in LEGO form, from Mando meeting Grogu and battling on Nevarro to finding the Jedi and returning to Mandalore.

However, there is currently no mention of the recent movie The Mandalorian and Grogu, meaning fans should not expect the special to adapt events from the upcoming film. That said, this remains speculation, and the animated adventure could instead follow an entirely new story featuring the same characters.

The release follows two previous LEGO Star Wars animated adventures in recent years, with LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy proving popular among fans and inspiring unique sets such as 75389 The Dark Falcon and 75414 The Force Burner Snowspeeder.

It seems unlikely that we will receive any new LEGO Mandalorian sets specifically tied to the special, but fans can expect many existing models to appear, including the recently released 75459 Imperial Lambda-Class Shuttle and the upcoming 75453 Offworld Sandcrawler and Mudhorn.
