David Beckham discussed his love of LEGO while on Hot Ones with Sean Evans and his answer to a tricky question will seem familiar to any LEGO fan.
Hot Ones, a web series that sees celebrities interviewed while eating hot wings of increasing levels of spice, welcomed footballing icon David Beckham to its table this week, already earning 13 million views after one day online (at the time of writing). The questions covered everything from his sporting past to his favourite sing of the Spice Girls, but also touched on Beckham's love of LEGO.
This isn't the first time that Becks has discussed his brick-building hobby, having said that he built it with his son Romeo during lockdown and even incorporating LEGO into ad campaigns. He's proved himself as a true fan in his response to a question that every LEGO fan has been faced with: what's the best set you've ever built?
When Sean Evans posed the question, Becks was at first distracted by the level of heat in the hot wing he just ate. The LEGO question comes towards the end of the interview – which means they're seriously spicy at this point, at 700,000 Scovilles. When he can breathe through the heat enough to answer, Beckham says: "I don't know what my favourite LEGO is actually.
"I've done so many over the years. I had [10272 Old Trafford - Manchester United] but I love LEGO. I don't care, I just love LEGO."
He rounds it off with a careless shrug to the camera to highlight his point. While he might not have given a definitive answer as to what his proudest LEGO moment is, it's a tricky question that we'd wager many people might struggle to answer. Indeed, when we wanted to highlight our top LEGO sets, we ended up with a list of 20 – and that was tough enough as it was.
Beckham's inability to answer the question (likely only partly fuelled by being in searing pain thanks to the hot wings) proves he's just like all of us. We might have some LEGO highlights but choosing just one as the best set ever is too much of an ask.
