DC Studios’ The Flash gets digital and physical release date

We now know when DC Studios’ The Flash will speed home and be available to watch on both digital and physical platforms.

It’s hard to believe that The Flash was first announced as far back as 2014, with troubled star Ezra Miller confirmed to be appearing as both Barry Allen and the fastest man alive. Following cameos as the character in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad, Miller’s version of The Flash then starred in 2017’s Justice League.

However, it would be a further six years before The Flash received his own spin-off film, co-starring alongside Michael Keaton’s returning version of Batman, with the result considered to be one of the biggest box office bombs of all time. Despite Warner Bros. expected to lose as much as $200 million on the project, The Flash may yet claw back some of that budget when the movie becomes available to watch at home.

It’s now been revealed that director Andy Muschietti’s The Flash will arrive on a variety of VOD (video on demand) services as soon as July 18, with a physical Blu-Ray and 4K Blu-ray launching on August 29, at least in the US for the latter. Fans who want to check out the scarlet speedster from the comfort of their own rooms can do so by renting the film for $19.99 or owning it for $24.99.

Whichever version you opt for, you can expect to receive a bunch of extra content in the shape of multiple featurettes, deleted scenes and the six-part original scripted podcast, ‘The Flash: Escape the Midnight Circus,’ with actor Max Greenfield stepping in as the voice of the character.

Despite rumours to the contrary, The Flash proved to be the third DC Studios feature film to have no tie-in LEGO sets whatsoever. The focus this year has been firmly on the Dark Knight himself, with models celebrating both Batman and Batman Returns, including the recently-released 76252 Batcave – Shadow Box and three more builds arriving on August 1.
