Early discount on LEGO Star Wars 75347 TIE Bomber at John Lewis

John Lewis has bombed ahead with one of the earliest discounts on this year’s LEGO Star Wars 75347 TIE Bomber, the first set of its kind in 20 years.

The last minifigure-scale LEGO Star Wars TIE Bomber arrived on shelves in 2003, so this update is long overdue – and it’s a peach of a set, executed to roughly the same scale as 75300 Imperial TIE Fighter. Better still, John Lewis currently has the 625-piece model available for just £47.99, marked down by 20% from its retail price of £59.99.

Originally released on January 1, 75347 TIE Bomber was initially difficult to come by at LEGO.com. That probably explains why it’s taken so long to see decent deals on the Empire Strikes Back set (released to commemorate Return of the Jedi’s 40th anniversary – it’s a long story), but now’s the time to act if you’ve been holding out for a discount.

As well as a sleek ship that prioritises display over play (good for adults), 75347 TIE Bomber includes four minifigures – among which are a few must-have characters. Darth Vader has printed arms and a new head, while this is the first-ever appearance of Rae Sloane in LEGO. Both the TIE Bomber and GONK Droid are brand new variants, too.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
