Every LEGO Design Seminar exclusive set so far

The LEGO Design Seminar sets get more interesting each year and though the collection is getting started, there are some unique entries so far.

What appears to be a recent addition to the LEGO Group's annual calendar, the annual Design Seminar held for members of the LEGO design teams has been offering an exclusive set to attendees every year, with three known entries into this unique collection so far.

While the rest of us won't be able to get our hands on these builds (at least not easily or without spending much of our annual budgets), we can still look back on what the hard-working designers have been able to enjoy over the past few years.

Here's every LEGO Design Seminar exclusive set that has been designed and handed out to attendees that we know about. Note that this is not a list of the LEGO Play Day gifts – those are different sets similarly handed out to the LEGO Group employees at another limited event but they differ in their offerings and references.

The 2022 set is the first recorded entry into the LEGO Design Seminar sets as the event appears to have started in 2022. Though it has no official name, the event was labelled Freestyle, which seems appropriate for the colourful keyring build.

It includes a brick-built minifigure accessory, a LEGO DOTS tag and a LEGO handheld digital pet. Two of the printed pieces appear to be exclusive to this set, which would remain consistent in the following years.

DS2023 Cosmic Daydreams

Pieces: 148 Minifigures: 4 Year: 2023

In 2023 following a year of LEGO Space sets across all manner of themes, DS2023 Cosmic Daydreams uses 148 pieces including one exclusive printed element to depict a small Classic Space DJ Booth and several figures.

One of the figures may be familiar as a reference to the Jim Spaceborn comic. This was a Classic Space comic book series that ran from 1983 to 1987, featuring the grey robot, Keko, with cartoon-like eyes on the left of the artwork. While this is a fun Easter egg, the set isn't quite as appealing as the 2024 entry.

DS2024 The Magic of Play

Pieces: 113 Minifigures: 4 Year: 2024

DS2024 is undoubtedly the most appealing of the LEGO Design Seminar sets, but it remains exclusive to LEGO design team members. As well as a small build as a homage to 6020 Magic Shop, three of the four minifigures in this model should be especially familiar.

Johnny Thunder is dressed up as a member of the Forestmen, Master Wu is in Majisto's costume and Mrs. Castillo is wearing Willa the Witch's robe. Add to that the Classic Space-esque robot as a Black Falcon knight and it's a fun batch of references on one 113-piece package.

These exclusive minifigures mean that the set has three exclusive printed pieces including one element that only appears in black in this specific set. Thankfully, the instructions for this set have been made available on the LEGO Builder app, but you won't be able to recreate it with complete accuracy without the original set.
