Fans are finding homes for LEGO Minifigures Series 29

It’s been a week since LEGO Minifigures Series 29 was released to the masses, and fans have been quick to find uses and homes for the new parts.

One week on from the launch of 71052 Series 29, we’ve seen some minifigures proving harder to find than others, a custom Marvel minifigure and more across the online community. They’re demonstrating the creativity of LEGO enthusiasts once again, finding all kinds of creative uses and displays for the new pieces and minifigures.

Here’s a look at how the LEGO community has responded to everything new in 71052 Series 29 after just one week of them being on shelves.

NINJAGO’s Mysterious Ronin is proving to be one of the hardest minifigures in 71052 Series 29 to find, alongside the Bionicle Cosplayer. NINJAGO’s popularity undoubtedly is helping its appeal, but there are some genuinely useful pieces in the packaging for custom minifigures. Not only is the brown shoulder armour perfect for completing a myriad of NINJAGO suits, but Seanboi16 is out to prove that it’s great for upgrades.

They’ve used Lloyd’s new hood to upgrade the younger Lloyd minifigure, showing off some of the character’s hair accordingly. Morro is able to make great use of the Mysterious Ronin’s torso and legs as well. Their darker colour scheme blends ideally with Morro’s ghostly form. It helps to sell that he has tried to become the green ninja, but failed and now wears the outfit as a grim reminder.

Other members of the online LEGO community have turned their efforts towards finding alternate uses for minifigures in 71052 Series 29 that don’t reference a specific theme. From amassing an army of Trash Monsters to form an army of swamp creatures, which works far too well, to creating a steampunk crew, there’s plenty of potential in the series.

Tecknishen‘s application of the Boba Tea costume on a Boba Fett minifigure is particularly good. Just in case you had no idea what to do with one of the more overlooked minifigures in Series 29.

Another way of displaying the minifigures in 71052 Series 29 is to simply find a place to display them which isn’t in a line with the rest of the series. Begooderrr‘s solution is particularly appealing, placing the Marine Biologist at the bottom of a soap dispenser. The minifigure will need a wash afterwards, but you can’t deny the creativity.

Skinnygold on Reddit had a far different approach, modifying 60485 Hot Rod with pieces from the Tahu gift-with-purchase to create a themed ride for the Bionicle Cosplayer to cruise around in. They at least acknowledge that this creates some uncomfortable questions for Tahu to answer, concerning whether he is made of car, or the car is made of him.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
