First look at new LEGO NINJAGO March 2024 set

A listing for one of next year’s LEGO NINJAGO sets has given us a first glimpse at an unrevealed March 2024 model, and – believe it or not – it’s another mech.

NINJAGO is going even bigger on mechs than usual in 2024, with more than half its first wave of sets comprised of mechanical suits of armour. More are rumoured to be on the way later in the year, including 71812 Kai’s Climbing Mech – and a listing for the already-revealed 71808 Kai’s Elemental Fire Mech at Dutch retailer 2TTOYS has offered a first look at what’s likely to be that March 2024 set.

Among the images for 71808 Kai’s Elemental Fire Mech at 2TTOYS is a ‘buy now’ tile that positions the set’s box art next to an in-situ shot of the LEGO NINJAGO model. Or rather, a LEGO NINJAGO model. The physical mech is clearly not the same one as the set pictured on the box, but the presence of Kai, its red colour scheme and the arms on its back – reminiscent of Marvel’s Iron Spider – suggest this is 71812 Kai’s Climbing Mech.

Kai’s second mech for 2024 seems unlikely to slot into the same mix-and-match system as 71806 Cole’s Elemental Earth Mech, 71807 Sora’s Elemental Tech Mech and 71808 Kai’s Elemental Fire Mech, as it’s rumoured to come in at €69.99 for 623 pieces. That places it as a more traditional standalone mech, far above the price point and piece count of its January 2024 contemporaries.

Whether this set includes anything else to reach that price tag remains to be seen, but the mech alone looks roughly comparable to the size and scale of this year’s 71785 Jay’s Titan Mech, which is available now for €79.99. If LEGO NINJAGO’s smaller 2024 mechs aren’t doing it for you, this slightly larger offering might be just the ticket.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
