Five predictions for LEGO Star Wars 25th-anniversary minifigures in 2024

The LEGO Group is said to be including new and unique Star Wars minifigures in 2024 sets to mark the theme’s 25th anniversary, so here are five more we could see spread throughout next year’s line-up.

More details on 2024’s LEGO Star Wars portfolio are starting to emerge from the rumour mill, with the latest reports pointing to Darth Malak and Fives both making their minifigure debut in 2024 sets. But according to Promobricks’ Max Börnicke, they won’t be coming in Knights of the Old Republic or Clone Wars-themed sets: instead, the two new characters will apparently debut in 75379 R2-D2 and 75387 Tantive IV Hallway respectively.

The aim for the 25th anniversary of LEGO Star Wars therefore seems to be giving us characters that would otherwise never find their way into regular sets, akin to classic May the 4th polybags (where else would a Shadow ARF Trooper or TC-4 show up?). And that blows the gates wide open to plenty of other minifigures we’d hope to see in 2024, from some long overdue to others that we never thought we’d see in a LEGO set.

Here are just six potential candidates for new LEGO Star Wars 25th-anniversary minifigures – let us know in the comments who you’d like to see…

5 – Yaddle

We already know the TT Games team loves Yaddle (she was featured heavily in the early marketing for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga), and that means there’s a minifigure design ready and waiting for the LEGO Group to mass-produce in 2024. 75367 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser’s Captain Rex minifigure is lifted almost directly from the video game, so why not Yaddle too? We may never see another excuse to bring her into the LEGO Star Wars line-up, after all.

4 – Dark Rey

The LEGO Group has mostly steered clear of sequel trilogy sets since The Rise of Skywalker (this month’s 40658 Millennium Falcon Holiday Diorama proving the exception to the rule), so chances are slim we’ll ever see a Dark Rey minifigure in a regular model. Consider that she only appeared briefly in a vision in Episode IX, and the odds go down even further. But we’d love to see the LEGO Star Wars team pay brief homage to the sequels with a Dark Rey in 2024, even if only for how they might tackle that unique lightsaber…

3 – Dryden Vos

We’ve also yet to revisit either of Disney’s spin-off Star Wars movies, and while the LEGO sets for Rogue One were fairly comprehensive in covering every major character (and some minor characters too), Paul Bettany’s Dryden Vos remains a glaring omission from 2018’s Solo: A Star Wars Story. If we’re never going back to those films, a 25th-anniversary minifigure could be the perfect opportunity to finally introduce the crime lord.

2 – Cal Kestis

While 2022’s 75335 BD-1 gave us hope that a minifigure-scale Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order set might be right around the corner, that has yet to materialise – and now that sequel game Jedi: Survivor has come and gone, it looks like the LEGO Group won’t be bringing us a Stinger Mantis any time soon. We’d still love a Cal Kestis minifigure to sit alongside the tiny BD-1 mould, though…

1 – Saw Gerrera

He’s now shown up in everything from The Clone Wars and Rebels to Rogue One and Andor, but we’re still waiting on an official LEGO Star Wars Saw Gerrera minifigure. If there really has been no suitable opportunity to include him in a regular set yet, it feels unlikely there ever will be – so maybe the 25th anniversary will finally be the right time to add Saw to the collection, popping him into (for example) the rumoured 75378 Grogu’s Escape.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.

I would personally love to see a new minifigure for Natalie Portman’s Queen Amidala. To this point, there has only been one such minifigure, and while cool, there are at least ten other options for costumes for this dynamic character. This inclusion would also coincide perfectly with the 25th anniversary of The Phantom Menace, and would no doubt be a hit among fans of this dynamic queen and her plethora of outfits.
