More details on rumoured LEGO Star Wars 2024 sets – Tantive IV, R2-D2

More details have surfaced on two LEGO Star Wars sets rumoured to be on the way in 2024, including the minifigure line-up for the expected Tantive IV hallway model.

We’re starting to get a clearer picture of what’s supposedly in store for the LEGO Star Wars line-up in 2024, which marks the theme’s 25th anniversary, with new rumours coming through thick and fast at the moment. In addition to obscure minifigures inserted into new sets and a third midi-scale vehicle, the latest reports fill in some of the specifics around two rumoured sets: 75379 R2-D2 and 75387 Tantive IV Hallway.

Dive into the details on both of those sets – including their minifigures, piece counts, prices and features – below. These come from Promobricks’ Max Börnicke, who is generally regarded as a reliable source in the LEGO Star Wars community. Still, a lot could change between now and 2024 (and rumours are often hazy/liable to error), so take them with a grain of salt until the LEGO Group officially unveils its line-up for LEGO Star Wars in 2024…

75379 R2-D2

Price: €99.99 Pieces: 1,050 Release date: March 1, 2024

This new buildable Artoo – which comes in at less than half the current RRP and piece count of 75308 R2-D2, an 18+ set released in 2021 – was originally said to be targeted at a younger audience, and while that still seems to be the case, it doesn’t sound like 75379 R2-D2 will be short on features as a result. The 1,050-piece model will apparently include an articulated head, a third leg, a periscope, tools and even an information plaque, matching the likes of 75255 Yoda and 75318 The Child.

It’s expected to include an R2-D2 minifigure (again mirroring the approach of those earlier sets), alongside the first-ever minifigure of Darth Malak. Hailing from the Knights of the Old Republic video game series, Malak is said to be one of several characters appearing as part of the LEGO Star Wars theme’s 25th-anniversary celebrations.

75387 Tantive IV Hallway

Price: €54.99 Pieces: 502 Release date: March 1, 2024

Once thought to be a new addition to the LEGO Star Wars Diorama Collection, 75387 Tantive IV Hallway is now said to be closer in style and format to 2022’s 75324 Dark Trooper Attack. According to the latest reports, the model will stand roughly 22cm tall, and multiple copies can be connected together for a longer slice of the corridor (leaning into what most of us did with 75324, but right out of the box).

As well as functions to blast open the hallway’s doors (to recreate the opening scene of A New Hope), and ‘topple a character’, 75387 Tantive IV Hallway will apparently include minifigures of Darth Vader, Captain Antilles, two Stormtroopers, two Rebel Fleet Troopers and Fives (or CT-5555). The Clone Trooper is reportedly this set’s 25th-anniversary character, which explains his presence in an original trilogy set.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
