Future LEGO Ideas gift-with-purchase revealed

The LEGO Group has revealed the winner of its dream gift-with-purchase contest, confirming which of the 15 finalists will be coming to LEGO.com and LEGO Stores.

One of the most open-ended LEGO Ideas contests to date tasked builders with designing their dream gift-with-purchase. The judging panel narrowed down the pool of entries to 15 different finalists, then opened up the final selection to the community in a fan vote. Jagamax’s The Autumn Snails has now taken top prize with a total of 806 votes.

Their 250-piece build will be transformed into a future LEGO Ideas gift-with-purchase, given away with qualifying orders at LEGO.com and in LEGO Stores. Exactly when it will be available has yet to be confirmed, but a realistic timeline for its arrival could be anywhere from 12 to 18 months, so maybe don’t start holding your breath just yet.

The diorama features two brick-built snails, complete with spiral shells, alongside a log, small rock, puddle of water and greenery. There are even small trails of slime left behind by the molluscs, and Jagamax has given a glimpse at how it all comes together in the images on their entry page (reproduced above).

The LEGO Ideas team will also hand out prizes to the builds that finished second and third in the public poll, which are piso_brick89’s Fries Kiosk and Nick.wood5’s Mountain Pass Transit. They ended up with 755 and 646 votes respectively, so it was a pretty tight race between first and second place – but those slow and steady snails ultimately took the gold medal.

The Autumn Snails now joins 11 other LEGO Ideas sets currently in production.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
