Hobby Warehouse relaunches Toys R Us in Australia
Toys R Us is back in Australia – online at least.
LEGO stockist Toys R Us, which closed down in many countries around the world last year, has been resurrected in Australia. The brand will now be operated by Hobby Warehouse, which has re-launched the toy retailer with a new website.
Rebelscum reports the news, highlighting a sale on LEGO products. It seems some leftover stock has been released on the website with decent discounts – which is very welcome to those down under, as LEGO prices tend to be higher than elsewhere in the world.
When Toys R Us went into liquidation in Australia, 44 stores closed. The new offering is expected to be significantly different, with no word yet on whether there will be a physical presence to accompany the website.
“Our mission is to encourage children to engage with as many forms of play as we possibly can. Hobby Warehouse is a digital native with a keen understanding of how to accelerate and match the requirements of the modern shopper,” said Hobby Warehouse Chief Executive Louis Mittoni.
Recent reports suggest that Toys R Us might also be making a comeback in the USA, the country where the retailer originated.
