Whether you were around for the very first Ghostbusters movie in 1984 – and that’s surely the market the LEGO Group is tapping into with this nostalgic release – or have hopped on to the franchise with either 2016’s Ghostbusters or 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the ECTO-1 is core to the entire experience. The modified hearse has shown up in some form in every instalment so far, and is arguably the biggest icon of the entire series (beyond maybe the proton packs).

The LEGO version taps into every facet of that nostalgia across its 2,352 pieces, packing in working steering, an extending gunner seat, a trapdoor with ghost trap and plenty more paranormal equipment. The final model measures a cool 47cm long, 22.5cm tall and 16.5cm wide, and is up there with the biggest LEGO Icons vehicles to date.

Zavvi is currently changing its sale prices day by day, so we can’t say how long this deal on 10274 Ghostbusters ECTO-1 will stick around. If a £60 saving is enough to tempt you to bite the bullet, head over to Zavvi while the going’s good.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
