Inside the LEGO SDCC 2023 booth – new sets, huge builds and more
Head inside the LEGO Group’s SDCC 2023 booth with footage from the show floor, with new sets, huge builds and exclusive artwork all on display.
The LEGO Group has teamed up with Blockbuster Video for its retro booth at San Diego Comic-Con this year, which adopts the blue and yellow hues of the now-defunct video rental store to play on the ‘90s nostalgia of Sonic the Hedgehog. The blue blur takes centre stage at the LEGO booth, with a huge 3D sculpture of the video game character on display for the first time.
Footage from YouTubers MiniSuperHeroesToday and Beyond the Brick has now given us a glimpse at the chaotic booth, which is attracting plenty of convention-goers to check out its wares. As well as its giant Sonic statue, the booth features brick-built ‘cardboard’ standees – the sort you’d have seen in Blockbuster in the ‘90s – and more than 50 new official sets on display, including August and September Marvel and Star Wars releases.
The booth is also decorated with VHS tapes recreating modern and classic movies and video games in LEGO bricks, from Return of the King and Avengers: Age of Ultron to Sonic Generations and The Empire Strikes Back. Star Wars, NINJAGO, DREAMZzz, Sonic, Marvel and Super Mario posters are dotted around the top of the booth, while there’s a LEGO building station for attendees to add their own custom VHS cases to a communal display.
Check out everything going on at SDCC 2023 in the video below, which also includes an up-close and in-person look at multiple newly-revealed sets, such as 75362 Ahsoka Tano’s T-6 Jedi Shuttle, 75364 New Republic E-wing vs. Shin Hati’s Starfighter and 75371 Chewbacca.
The LEGO Group has also revealed two new Sonic the Hedgehog sets at San Diego Comic-Con, and is giving away prizes and minifigures with an exclusive torso at its booth. Click here for a full breakdown of the company’s schedule at SDCC 2023.

Author Profile
- I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
