Several updates are coming to the LEGO BrickLink Designer Program starting as soon as now, and we're detailing the lot and what you need to know.
The BrickLink Instagram account has detailed how the recent updates to the design of the platform will impact the BrickLink Designer Program, starting with the 2028 production year. Read on to see what to expect from renamed series to new box art, as well as the reveal of the next series' palette.
Renamed series
There will continue to be three series per year, but Series 11 will be the last to be named as such. Starting in the 2028 production year, each year will have three waves. For example, what would be Series 12 will now be 2028 Series 1, since the sets will ship out in 2028. This count will restart with each production year, with 2029 Series 1, Series 2, Series 3, then 2030 Series 1, and so on.
New box art

In accordance with both the updated graphics across BrickLink and the new wave naming system, the box art for the BrickLink Designer program is also being refreshed to feature a blue outline, LEGO piece silhouettes and a label for the specific year and wave. The new parrot mascot is also visible on the side.
The announcement for this change clarifies that the box design has not been finalised, though the final design will be in use for the 2028 waves.
2028 wave 1 palette

The palette for what will now be 2028 wave 1 is now available on Studio. Just make sure to update the program and select the palette as normal on the left side of the screen. We've taken a look at the full parts selection and picked out some of the most interesting elements, though many of the fan-favourite Castle prints have remained, as well.
The BrickLink Designer Program website has already been updated with some of these changes, though the majority of them won't be felt until the 2028 Series 1 sets start to ship out.
The BrickLink Designer Program Series 9 sets are next to go up for crowdfunding in October, and you can view the full selection of finalists by clicking here. They include a model that would go perfectly with the retiring 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon's Tale.
