Last chance to decide on future LEGO Ideas ’80s IP set

There’s not long left to pick which one of five submissions you’d like to be a LEGO Ideas set, including The Gremlins, Beetlejuice and more.

One of LEGO Ideas’ biggest and most exciting challenges so far is about to stop accepting your input, leaving days left to cast your vote on one of five submissions based on ’80s intellectual property. The current challenge will result in a pair of LEGO Ideas sets based on a franchise from the ’80s that has not been covered in a full-sized LEGO set.

Originally, the challenge was only intended to result in a single model though this was expanded with a second round of projects after the contest proved to be popular on the platform. After an eventful first vote, the initial results are coming on June 14 at the time of writing.

For now, there’s only a couple of days left to vote in the second round by clicking here to view the corresponding activity. The submissions chosen for the second selection include ones inspired by The Gremlins, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Beetlejuice and Golden Girls.

Jupe71345’s Beetlejuice project may be in a good position thanks to the release of the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice trailer earlier this week, though their submission is based on the first movie.

Three of the four projects have appeared previously with minifigures thanks to LEGO Dimensions, though the LEGO Ideas team aren’t counting them as full sets for the purposes of this challenge.

While the results of the first fan vote are coming on June 14, the results for this selection won’t be revealed until September 1. You’ve got until May 27 at 2pm CEST to pick between the five projects in the second phase.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
