LEGO Batman 76271 Gotham City is packed with secret characters

Peel away the layers of 76271 Batman: The Animated Series Gotham City and you’ll discover a rogue’s gallery of secret LEGO Batman characters within.

The LEGO Group today officially revealed 76271 Batman: The Animated Series Gotham City, a 4,210-piece set that’s a microscale homage to the classic TV show of the ‘90s. The LEGO Batman build is priced at £259.99 / $299.99 / €299.99 and will launch on April 1 for LEGO Insiders, followed by wider availability for all from April 4.

More than just a simple LEGO Art or Architecture set, 76271 Batman: The Animated Series Gotham City uses clever 3D construction techniques to stack buildings against the location’s ominous red backdrop. It’s then possible to remove 15 panel sections from the front of the model and access various hidden area within.

In addition, 76271 Batman: The Animated Series Gotham City offers up even more details with nods to multiple heroes, villains and supporting cast characters from Batman: The Animated Series lurking behind the brick-built façade – at least 27 from what we can see so far.

For instance, take off the front of Arkham Asylum and you’ll be greeted by tiny stickered tiles featuring such notorious inmates as The Ventriloquist, Mad Hatter, Killer Croc and Bane. Peel away a section of Gotham City’s police station and there’s Officer Renee Montoya, Detective Harry Bullock and Commissioner Gordon on duty or check out the interior of Wayne Manor to spot Alfred, with Batman and Robin in the Batcave below.

We don’t want to spoil all of the set’s secrets this early in the game though, but suffice to say that fans of Batman: The Animated Series will more than likely be very satisfied with all of the references to the show that have been packed into 76271 Batman: The Animated Series Gotham City.
