LEGO Batman game recreates The Animated Series title sequence

The iconic opening title sequence for Batman: The Animated Series has been recreated in brick-built form in the upcoming LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight.

We’re less than two weeks away from the highly-anticipated release of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, at least for those players who purchase the Deluxe Edition of the game that is. As we inch ever closer to the launch of the TT Games title, more hands-on videos have been released, with new footage revealing that a surprise recreation of a fan-favourite TV show will also be included.

At some point during LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, players will be treated to the full opening credits sequence from Batman: The Animated Series, the iconic ’90s series that was the inspiration for the likes of 76271 Batman: The Animated Series Gotham City and 76274 Batman with the Batmobile vs. Harley Quinn and Mr. Freeze, yet in brick form.

In fact, the latter model even makes an appearance in the LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight footage, which has been tweaked slightly to now include Robin, plus the now-familiar TT Games tongue-in-cheek humour.

The original award-winning Batman: The Animated Series title sequence was created by Bruce Timm and Eric Radomski, with the intention being to capture the show’s unique ‘Dark Deco’ aesthetic.

New details for the upcoming video game also confirm that more unlockable Batman: The Animated Series suits will be available for players to add to their digital wardrobes, such as the Boy Wonder, Batgirl, Jim Gordon and Catwoman, joining the same distinctive look for Batman that had been previously revealed.

Players will be able to check out the Batman: The Animated Series credits sequence for themselves when LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on May 22. Gamers who purchase the Deluxe Edition can gain access to that footage a full three days earlier though on May 19.
