LEGO BrickLink Series 5 sets all impress in early reviews

With just days to go until crowdfunding starts for the LEGO BrickLink Designer Program Series 5 sets go up for pre-order, early reviews are stunned.

Whether you’ve been waiting to get your hands on the gothic castle at long last, or are hoping to purchase a port for your LEGO Pirates (or One Piece) minifigures to sail out from, there’s good reason to be excited about the LEGO BrickLink Designer Program Series 5 sets, according to early reviews.

From comments on some impressive play features to admiration for the many details, criticisms for the five sets are hard to find. Here’s what the early reviews have to say about these five sets before crowdfunding opens up early next week.

910049 Adventure in Transylvania

Price: £299.99 / $349.99 / €349.99 Pieces: 4,056 Designer: SleeplessNight

The most popular project by votes in Series 5 is SleeplessNight’s 910049 Adventure in Transylvania, depicting a gothic castle with stunning architectural details, and a dark colour scheme that stands out from any other castle creation in the program so far.

“If you’ve been looking for a nice, traditional LEGO build that isn’t breaking the bank per se at $500 plus, and you want something that’s beautiful on display, well, 910049 Adventure in Transylvania is the answer,” commended Solid Brix Studios. “It will go down as one of the best, if not the best, BrickLink Designer Program sets.”

The review also commends the crypt-opening function and how it can be reset just as easily as it used. You can crowfund 910049 Adventure in Transylvania next week for £299.99 / $349.99 / €349.99 with 4,056 pieces.

910050 Antique Shop

Price: £129.99 / $149.99 / €149.99 Pieces: 1,918 Designer: ThatOneGuySteve

910050 Antique Shop from ThatOneGuySteve is far from the biggest set in Series 5, but it’s cosy and homely feel have still managed to impress early reviewers, especially for the variety of building techniques used in the interior.

“Given it has over 1,900 pieces, I feel like the price tag of £129.99 / $149.99 / €149.99 is moderately fair value,” shared Stud City. At $150 it does offer some unique building experiences and overall it’s a great addition to anyone’s LEGO city or a display case that’s hanging out behind them.”

You can crowdfund 910050 Antique Shop starting next week for £129.99 / $149.99 / €149.99, complete with five minifigures (and a baby) as well as some LEGO reference-filled stickers.

910051 Mushroom Village

Price: £189.99 / $209.99 / €209.99 Pieces: 2,436 Designer: JonasKramm

Jonas Kramm’s latest tiny world model expands on their mushroom house with a packed village of floral models, making use of techniques from LEGO Botanicals to detail the inside, outside and side builds in the village creation.

“910051 The Mushroom Village is a spectacular set,” wrote The Brothers Brick. “It’s approachable, well-crafted, cohesive, and downright fun. Jonas Kramm is an expert at creating something delightful in LEGO, as we’ve already seen with his Series 2 model. The village is a fantastic sequel that continues to carry the ‘Tiny World of Wonders’”’ torch.”

910051 The Mushroom Village can be pre-ordered for £189.99 / $209.99 / €209.99 with 2,436 pieces next week, while stocks last. Whether you have the other model in this collection or not, it has impressed in early reviews.

910052 Popcorn Wagon

Price: £49.99 / $59.99 / €57.99 Pieces: 594 Release date: November 1, 2025 Designer: Mictur

The smallest of the Series 5 sets is 910052 Popcorn Wagon from Mictur and an early review of the build has revealed just how many features have managed to fit inside the small footprint, as well as the elegant details that surround the nostalgic model.

“If you want a small diorama, which is perfectly scaled for minifigures, this is a great addition to your modular buildings or city builds,” said let’s build. “Look no further, 910052 Popcorn Wagon is the best choice for you.”

As the least expensive of the Series 5 sets, 910052 Popcorn Wagon should be easier to justify adding to your order next week for £49.99 / $59.99 / €57.99 with 594 pieces, including three minifigures.

910053 The Thieves of Tortuga

Price: £299.99 / $339.99 / €339.99 Pieces: 4,002 Designer: Krackenator

From the smallest entry in Series 5 to one of the biggest, 910053 The Thieves of Tortuga stunned in our early review of the BrickLink Designer Program build, especially for LEGO Pirates fans. You can watch our video review of the set above to see what we thought ahead of next week.

“Nostalgic throwback pirate sets have not exactly been uncommon in recent years, but no official release has ever offered the same level of detail and quality that can be seen with 910053 The Thieves of Tortuga,” wrote Matthew in our written review. “This is a thoroughly enjoyable build from start to finish, and the completed model looks so spectacular on the shelf that it’s hard to imagine any other LEGO Pirates model ever proving to be more eye-catching.”

910053 The Thieves of Tortuga also goes up for pre-order on June 10 for £299.99 / $339.99 / €339.99 and we predict that it’s going to be one of the most popular builds in the entire series. Here’s a reminder of everything that enters the crowdfunding phase next week, and you’ll want to plan your purchases in advance.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
