LEGO catalogue confirms release date for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

The official LEGO catalogue for the first half of 2022 has reaffirmed the final release date for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

First announced a full two and a half years ago at E3 in 2019, the saga-spanning sequel has been hit with delay after delay. Its current release window – revealed at Gamescom back in August – is spring 2022, and that seems to be the date the LEGO Group, Warner Bros. and TT Games are sticking with, because it’s there again in the latest LEGO catalogue.

Scans published by StoneWars reveal another teaser for the long-awaited video game, using the key art we’ve already seen, captioned ‘neu im frühling 2022’ – which translates to ‘new in spring 2022’. That means we could theoretically be playing LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga as soon as three months from now, although it could also mean waiting until May.

Either way, things are beginning to look promising for an actual release in spring 2022. (Unlike the original spring 2021 release date. Or the original original 2020 release date.) Add in that Warner Bros. has also recently restarted marketing for the title, and even its absence at The Game Awards looks easy to excuse.

All that said, if there’s one thing we’ve learned from the past couple of years, it’s not to get our hopes up where LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is concerned…

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
